Two Arrested for Firing at Shri Ganesh Scan Centre Over Extortion Demand Refusal

Main accused Karan Arora has 7 criminal cases registered against him

Rupnagar Police have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two individuals involved in the firing incident at Shri Ganesh Scan Centre located in Nurpur Bedi. The incident took place on the intervening night of May 30-31, 2026.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rupnagar, Mr. Maninder Singh, stated that this action was carried out as part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing campaign against gangsters and anti social elements.
He informed that on May 31, 2026, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Nawanshahr, na reported to the police that unknown persons had opened fire at the shutter of his Shri Ganesh Scan Centre in Nurpur Bedi during the night of May 30-31 which have been closed from more than two months. Bullet marks were found on the shutter, and empty cartridges were recovered from outside the premises.
In this regard, FIR No. 65 dated 31.05.2026 was registered at Police Station Nurpur Bedi under Sections 125, 351(2), 324(4) of the BNS-2023 and Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act against unknown persons.
To investigate the case, multiple teams were constituted under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Mr. Gurdeep Singh Gosal, DSP (Investigation) Mr. Rajpal Singh Gill, and DSP Sub-Division Sri Anandpur Sahib Mr. Naveenpal Singh Lehal. Acting on technical inputs, teams led by CIA Incharge Inspector Mandeep Singh and SHO Nurpur Bedi Inspector Gurmukh Singh have arrested the two accused on June 8, 2026.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Arora alias Laddu, a resident of village Jadiali near Manji Sahib Gurdwara under Jamalpur Police Station, Commissionerate Police Ludhiana, and Vicky Kumar Ravani alias Buvan, a resident of Shantivan Gali, Naya Tola, Ward No. 04, Sangesar, District Madhepura (Bihar).
SSP further stated that both accused were produced before the court on June 9, 2026, and police remand has been obtained.
He said that Sandeep Kumar has already registered the complaint in SBS Nagar regarding the ransom calls for extortion demand.
During preliminary interrogation, it has been revealed that both accused were in contact with gangsters Rohit Gudara and Ravi Balachauria and are habitual drug users. They committed the crime for monetary gain. During investigation, one .30 bore pistol, 10 live cartridges, and a motorcycle bearing registration number PB10CR-4464 were recovered from their possession.
Further investigation is underway, and more significant disclosures are expected. SSP also added that the main accused, Karan Arora, is already facing a total of seven criminal cases and had been absconding in those matters.
