New Delhi: Reinforcing its commitment to social harmony and inclusive development, the Delhi Government on Sunday announced that it will institute competitions and awards in the name of Sant Kabir Das Ji to inspire the younger generation with his timeless teachings of equality, humanity and national unity.
Making the announcement at a grand state-level celebration of Sant Kabir Das Ji Jayanti, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the initiative aims to popularise the saint-poet’s teachings and couplets among youth while strengthening the values of social harmony, human dignity and patriotism.
Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister described Delhi as a symbol of India’s diversity and cultural unity, reaffirming that her government is committed to serving every section of society without discrimination. She said Sant Kabir Das Ji’s message of love, brotherhood and equality continues to guide society and remains highly relevant in contemporary times.
Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said Sant Kabir Das Ji’s life and teachings remain a powerful source of inspiration for social justice, equality and universal human values. He noted that the saint fearlessly opposed caste discrimination and social evils while advocating a society rooted in truth, compassion and righteous conduct.
Highlighting the government’s outreach, Singh said the Delhi Government is actively promoting the ideals of great social reformers among the younger generation and implementing welfare initiatives for youth, women and underprivileged communities. He described the Jayanti celebration as a significant step towards strengthening social harmony, national unity and public awareness.
The state-level programme featured devotional music, cultural performances and a seminar on Sant Kabir Das Ji’s philosophy and contribution to social reform. Public representatives, scholars, religious leaders, senior officials and citizens participated in the event, concluding with a collective pledge to uphold the saint’s ideals and contribute towards building a harmonious, just and developed society.
