SARIMUL LASKAR,SILCHAR – In a significant operation conducted late Tuesday night, police raided the Parijat Hotel located in the Hinjuripar area of Lathigram under the Udharbond police station, rescuing a 16-year-old girl. The operation followed a major public outcry, as local residents and representatives from the Dudhpatil and Gosaipur Gram Panchayats gathered at the premises to protest against long-standing allegations of illicit activities at the establishment. Residents have been vocal for some time regarding claims that the hotel had become a hub for narcotics distribution, illegal gambling, and sex trafficking. The situation escalated on Tuesday night, prompting the arrival of the Additional Superintendent of Police of Cachar along with officials from the Udharbond police station to control the crowd and secure the scene. The rescued minor has been placed under police protection, and authorities have officially registered a case against the hotel management. Investigating officers have confirmed that a comprehensive probe into the hotel’s operations is underway, with promises of strict legal action against those involved. Meanwhile, the local community continues to demand the permanent closure of the establishment, urging the district administration to revoke its trade license immediately to ensure the safety and moral integrity of the surrounding area.
