
Pankaj Nath, Assam: Assam’s new Guardian Minister of Biswanath District and the Minister of School Education, Tribal Affairs (Bhaiyam) and Information Technology Department, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, held a detailed review meeting with officials of government departments of Biswanath district on Friday. In the meeting, the Minister checked the progress of the ongoing development projects in the district and directed all the departments to complete the works at the earliest.
The Minister took a special review of the disaster preparedness of the district in view of the possible flood situation before the monsoon. He directed all the concerned departments including Water Resources Department, Public Health Engineering, District Disaster Management Authority, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Agriculture, Health, Education and Public Works to ensure storage of necessary supplies and resources so that immediate assistance can be provided to the common people at the time of disaster.
The Minister stressed that it is a priority to develop the newly formed district in its entirety and it is necessary to promote interconnectivity. He also discussed in detail the timely completion and opening of ambitious projects like the under-construction Biswanath Medical College, Integrated District Commissioner’s Office Building and Engineering College to the public. The meeting was held in the conference room of the District Commissioner, which was attended by Sonitpur Lok Sabha constituency MP Ranjit Dutt, Biswanath Assembly constituency MLA Pallablochan Das, Gahapur Assembly MLA Utpal Bora, Bihali Assembly MLA Munindra Das along with District Commissioner Lakhinandan Saharia , Senior Superintendent of Police Ajagauran Basumatary, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Kowar, Biswanath Chariali Municipal Council Mayor Amarjyoti Borthakur, Co-District Commissioners , Additional District Commissioners and other departmental heads were present.
The Minister asked the officials to ensure time-bound progress of the works and make all necessary arrangements in advance to deal with floods and other emergencies. He also directed that the quality of construction of projects should be ensured and special attention should be paid to better connectivity between urban and rural area.
