
SARIMUL LASKAR SILCHAR :- In a major anti-narcotics operation, Cachar Police have seized 20,000 Yaba tablets and arrested a drug smuggler from the Itkhola area of Silchar.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team conducted a swift raid in Itkhola on Tuesday night. The team detained one person and recovered a huge consignment of 20,000 Yaba tablets from his possession.
The identity of the arrested smuggler has not been revealed yet. He is currently being interrogated by police.
According to sources, Cachar Police had been closely monitoring this drug syndicate for a long time. Tuesday’s operation was the result of sustained surveillance and credible tip-offs.
The seized Yaba tablets are estimated to be worth several lakh rupees in the local market. Police are investigating whether the arrested person is part of a larger drug trafficking network.
Local residents have welcomed the successful raid and expressed relief. They stated that drug abuse had been on the rise in Itkhola and surrounding areas, posing a serious threat to the youth. They hope this police action will help curb the menace and protect young people from the dangerous grip of narcotics.
A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act. He will be produced before the court shortly. Investigation into the case is ongoing, and police are actively pursuing leads to dismantle the larger syndicate.
