New Delhi, June 22: In a major governance reform aimed at improving public service delivery and enhancing the ease of doing business, the Delhi Government has brought 23 additional services under the Delhi Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services Act, 2011, ensuring that key approvals, licences and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) are issued within prescribed timelines.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the move would provide significant relief to both citizens and businesses by reducing delays and minimizing repeated visits to government offices. She said the initiative strengthens transparency, accountability and efficient governance while creating a more investment-friendly environment in the capital.
The newly notified services cover a wide range of departments, including Labour, Energy, Agriculture, Forest and Wildlife, Public Works, Excise, Legal Metrology, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), municipal bodies and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation.
Among the key timelines announced, factory plan approvals will be processed within 15 days, registration under the Shops and Establishments Act within one day, sewerage connections within 15 days, film shooting permissions within 15 days and electricity connection-related applications within 60 days. Registration of weighing and measuring instruments will be completed within 45 days, while battery waste management authorisations will be issued within 15 days.
The reforms also prescribe deadlines for municipal services, including permissions for amusement parks, hotel registrations, food business NOCs, mobile tower installations, construction material storage approvals, tree-felling permissions, road-cutting approvals and registrations of builders and real estate agents under RERA.
Highlighting the broader objective, CM Rekha Gupta said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of improving the Ease of Doing Business by delivering government services within fixed timelines, strengthening administrative accountability and ensuring faster, transparent and citizen-centric governance.
