NurPurBedi, 16 June (Ajay Puri)
Government High School Raipur, Education Block Takhatgarh, District Rupnagar, has once again brought laurels to Punjab by securing the prestigious Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) National Winner 2025-26 title at the national level. The school achieved this remarkable recognition in the national results declared by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, on 15 June 2026.
It is noteworthy that the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) programme was launched by the Ministry of Education in 2025 with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental sustainability, greenery, and sustainable development in schools and higher educational institutions. The initiative aims to recognize and honour institutions that demonstrate excellence in these areas at the national level.
SHVR is an upgraded version of the earlier Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar. Schools are evaluated on nearly 60 parameters, including sanitation, safe drinking water, functional toilets, handwashing facilities, waste management, water and energy conservation, biodiversity, green campus initiatives, and activities related to Mission LiFE. The selection process involves rigorous evaluation at the district, state, and national levels.
This year, 191 schools from across India received National Level Recognition. Among them, only eight schools from Punjab were selected, including just three government schools. Government High School Raipur is proud to be one of them and is the only school from District Rupnagar to receive this prestigious national honour.
The award recognizes the school’s outstanding efforts in promoting cleanliness, environmental conservation, water and energy management, waste management, biodiversity protection, and creating environmental awareness among students through innovative and impactful initiatives.
With this achievement, Government High School Raipur has further strengthened its legacy of excellence by winning around 10 national awards, bringing immense pride to the district of Rupnagar and the state of Punjab.
The credit for this outstanding achievement goes to the visionary leadership of Headmistress Mrs. Seema Devi, the dedicated efforts of Project Coordinator and Science Teacher Mr. Jagjit Singh, and the collective hard work of the entire school staff. Special appreciation was also extended to Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Mr. Manmohan Singh, Mr. Sukhdev Singh, Mr. Mandeep Singh, and Mrs. Harpreet Kaur for their commitment and valuable contribution. The support of students, parents, the School Management Committee, and the village community also played a significant role in this historic success.
On this occasion, Mrs. Monica Bhutani, Principal, DIET Rupnagar, Mr. Prem Kumar Mittal, District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Rupnagar, along with other education department officials and eminent personalities from the education fraternity, congratulated the school on this remarkable accomplishment and described it as a matter of pride for both Rupnagar district and Punjab.
