
Udalguri (Assam): Marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the district-level concluding programme of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was held at the Auditorium Hall of Udalguri Higher Secondary School on Friday, bringing together government officials, students, teachers and community representatives to strengthen the fight against substance abuse.
Organised by the District Administration, Udalguri, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Department, the event concluded the awareness campaign conducted from June 17 to June 26 under the themes Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchan.
Chief Guest Shri Fresh Mochahari, Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), stressed the need for the complete eradication of drug abuse from society and assured the BTC Government’s full support in building a drug-free future. Addressing the gathering, BTC Speaker Shri Tridip Daimari and MCLA Shri Ajoy Kumar Hazarika urged the youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy into education, sports, culture and other constructive activities.
The programme witnessed the participation of senior district officials, legal experts, educationists, excise authorities, mental health professionals, representatives of voluntary organisations and students. Representing MY Bharat, Dr. Milan Das, Chairman of Mission for Regional Skill Development (MRSD), extended support to the campaign.
The event concluded with Social Welfare Department official Smt. Chitra Kachari administering the Nasha Mukti Pledge to all participants, reaffirming the district’s commitment to promoting a healthy and drug-free society.
