Assam’s emerging diver Rupam Gogoi has brought pride to the state by earning a place in the Indian team for the upcoming Asian Age Group Diving Championships, which will be held in Thailand.
Rupam secured his berth in the national squad after delivering outstanding performances at the selection trials held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He clinched first place in the 10m Synchronised Diving event on June 17 and followed it up with another gold-winning performance in the 1m Springboard event on June 18, thereby confirming his selection for the Indian team.

The achievement has been warmly congratulated by Bhaskar Ranjan Das, General Secretary of the Assam Swimming Association, and Mukuteswar Goswami, Publicity Secretary of the association.
The prestigious continental championship in Thailand will feature some of Asia’s best young divers. Rupam’s selection to represent India on such an important international platform is being regarded as a proud moment for Assam’s diving fraternity and a significant milestone in the state’s sporting history. Currently a Class XII student at the Army Sports Institute, Pune, Rupam is the son of Yadav Gogoi and Dharitri Gogoi of Komarbanda Mout village in Golaghat district, Assam. Rupam’s recent success has generated fresh optimism not only in Assam but also within the Indian diving community. His selection is expected to further strengthen India’s prospects in international diving competitions and inspire a new generation of athletes from the region.
