New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and Delhi government spokesperson Harish Khurana has rejected allegations by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj regarding an alleged scam in the procurement of bicycles for schoolgirls, terming the charges baseless and accusing the Opposition of attempting to divert public attention from alleged irregularities in Punjab.
Khurana’s response comes amid a political dispute over the procurement and distribution of bicycles by the Delhi Government. The AAP has questioned the cost and procurement process, alleging financial irregularities.
The BJP, however, has challenged the credibility of the allegations, pointing to what it described as shifting figures and claims being presented by the Opposition.
The BJP has maintained that allegations of corruption must be backed by consistent facts and documentary evidence. It argued that merely citing different figures or percentages, without establishing a consistent factual basis, does not by itself establish a scam.
The dispute has added to the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and AAP over the functioning and financial decisions of the Delhi Government.
