New Delhi: The Delhi Government has ordered the promotion and fresh posting of 111 officers of the Delhi Government’s DSS cadre, marking a major step towards strengthening the administration and improving public service delivery.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said making Delhi’s administrative system more efficient, transparent and accountable remains a priority of her government. She said the new responsibilities assigned to the promoted officers would help accelerate services in key sectors, including health, education, revenue and taxation.

A large number of officers have been posted as Deputy Directors (DSS) in the Education Department, with the government expecting the move to support the smooth functioning of the school education system. Promoted officers have also been appointed as Deputy Medical Superintendents in major hospitals, including Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, GTB Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, besides postings as Deputy Directors in the Directorate of Health Services.

Several officers have also been posted as SDMs (Headquarters) in the Revenue and Trade Tax Department and as Assistant Commissioners in the Department of Trade and Taxes. Other postings include Deputy Secretary positions in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and various departments, as well as assignments in the Law and Justice Department and Directorate of Vigilance.

CM Rekha Gupta said the promotions would make citizen services faster, more transparent and more effective, while also recognising the experience and eligibility of government employees.

The Delhi Government said the promotions address long-standing career stagnation among Grade-I officers of the DASS cadre. The process has been undertaken following directions of the Delhi High Court and as part of cadre restructuring.

The government said the move is also intended to strengthen the spirit of service among employees by ensuring that eligible and experienced officers receive due career advancement and appropriate responsibilities.
