
Pankaj Nath, Assam: Newly appointed minister in the Assam government and guardian minister of Nagaon district, Piyush Hazarika, reached Nagaon district on Tuesday and conducted a comprehensive review of all departmental works in the district. In the meeting held in the conference hall of the district commissioner’s office, Piyush Hazarika, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation etc. Departments of the Government of Assam, while taking information about the initiatives related to the Chief Minister’s Atma Nirbhar Asom Abhiyan and the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Scheme, said that the government has decided to give new jobs to two lakh people, but it will not be enough to give a permanent solution to the problem. Therefore, special emphasis will be laid on self-employment through schemes that promote self-employment.
The Minister informed that arrangements are being made to provide self-employment opportunities to 10 lakh young men and women under the Atma Nirbhar Asom Abhiyan, and strict monitoring will be implemented to ensure proper utilization of the beneficiaries receiving the loans. He asked to pay special attention to increase agricultural production in the district and increase the registration number of farmers. Expressing concern over the present status of irrigation schemes in Nagaon, he said that some of the projects have either failed or are not being utilized adequately. Strict instructions were given to the departmental officers to prepare an action plan at the earliest to revive such inefficient or inefficient applications. The minister said that he will come to Nagaon again in the near future to review the work of each department in detail.
The meeting was attended by MLA Rupak Sharma from Nagaon-Batdrawa assembly, Jitu Goswami from Berhampur, Shashikant Das from Raha, Mehboob Muktar from Dhing, Tanzil Hussain from Chamuguri and Nurul Huda from Rupahihat. Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sharma warmly welcomed the newly appointed minister in the district and said that all the officers are ready to take the district forward on the basis of the guidance and suggestions of the minister. At the beginning of the meeting, the Commissioner welcomed the Minister with a bouquet, gamocha and shawl. Senior Superintendent of Police, District Development Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad and all departmental heads including all additional commissioners were present in the meeting. The Minister also took acquaintance with all the officers and employees. Earlier, Minister Piyush Hazarika also participated in a similar review meeting in Hojai district, Assam .
