
Pankaj Nath, Assam: After being appointed as the Minister of Finance, Environment and Forests and Mining and Mineral Resources Departments in the Assam Cabinet led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Jayanta Malla Barua on Tuesday held an introductory meeting with senior officials of these three departments. The meeting was held at the Minister’s official residence at Dispur. During the meeting, Minister Barua said that these three departments of the Government of Assam play an important role in the overall development of the state. He gave directions to the officers to complete the departmental goals in a time-bound manner by making effective policies under the guidance of the Chief Minister and ensuring transparent administration.
The Minister said that they aim to strike a balance between development and environmental protection, so as to ensure sustainable and responsible use of natural resources. Regarding the officers associated with the Finance Department, the Minister asked them to focus on budget implementation, revenue reforms and fiscal discipline in line with the priorities of the states. He urged the officials of the Environment and Forest Department to actively enhance the conservation of forests, biodiversity protection and restoration of environmental losses as well as society-based forest management plans. At the same day , instructions were given to the Mining and Mineral Resources Department to ensure sustainable exploitation of resources, adherence to mining standards and protection of social and economic interests of the local people. Minister Jayanta Malla Barua expressed confidence that with the coordinated efforts of the departmental officers and employees under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the responsibilities of these important departments will be fulfilled smoothly and they will have a full share in the development of the state. The meeting concluded by discussing the action plan and the outline of priorities.
