New Delhi: The Supreme Court has delivered a significant verdict against the government’s coercive actions regarding the publication of the ‘Punjab Kesari’ newspaper.

The Supreme Court granted interim relief to the Punjab Kesari newspaper during a crucial hearing on Tuesday. The Supreme Court ordered the Punjab government not to take any coercive or harsh measures against the publication of the ‘Punjab Kesari’ newspaper. This ruling came at a time when the newspaper management had sought legal protection against potential state action against the government’s actions.

The printing press will continue to operate without interruption.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Punjab government not to take any coercive measures against the publication of the “Punjab Kesari” newspaper. The court clearly stated in its order that the newspaper’s printing press should continue to operate without interruption. However, this arrangement will be subject to the future decision of the High Court. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, clearly stated that you can close businesses and hotels, but not newspapers. Newspapers cannot be shut down on the pretext of pollution. Without commenting on the merits of the case, the bench ordered that the status quo be maintained and that the printing press continue to operate without any hindrance.

Interim Relief Period
The Supreme Court said that the newspaper’s printing press should continue to operate without any hindrance until the High Court delivers its judgment. This interim order will remain in effect until the High Court delivers its judgment and for one week thereafter, to allow the parties time to file an appeal. Please note that… The order was issued by a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul Pancholi.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared in court on behalf of the newspaper.
