New Delhi: In a significant push towards India’s clean-energy transition, H2 GenRack has signed a strategic agreement to manufacture and market hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine generators in the country, positioning the technology as a sustainable alternative to diesel gensets.
The initiative will be led by Varun S Patel and Aayush D Desai, who will oversee manufacturing expansion and commercial sales operations across India.
The company said hydrogen combustion-based generators could offer industries a practical and scalable clean-energy solution without requiring major modifications to existing generator infrastructure. Unlike hydrogen fuel-cell systems, the technology is being projected as a cost-efficient and industry-friendly alternative for large-scale adoption.
The generators are expected to cater to sectors requiring uninterrupted power backup, including airports, industrial units, commercial complexes, residential projects and infrastructure facilities. The systems will support capacities ranging from small kilowatt applications to large-scale one-megawatt power solutions.
The agreement also includes plans to explore manufacturing infrastructure development in India, in line with the Centre’s “Make in India” push and the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Industry observers believe the move could strengthen India’s growing hydrogen ecosystem as businesses increasingly seek reliable and environmentally responsible alternatives to fossil-fuel-based backup power systems.
H2 GenRack said the technology is aimed at delivering scalable and efficient hydrogen-based energy solutions for industrial and commercial applications globally.
