New Delhi: In a major push for girls’ education in Delhi’s Bawana constituency, Social Welfare, SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Cooperatives and Elections Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh has spearheaded the revival of the long-defunct Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (Updesh Kaur) in Dariyapur Kalan, a move expected to benefit nearly 800 girl students.
The reopening of the school has generated enthusiasm among local residents, as girls will now have access to education from Nursery to Class XII within their own locality. The institution is set to offer Science, Commerce and Humanities streams, along with facilities for Computer Education, Fine Arts and Physical Education.
The initiative follows sustained efforts by Ravinder Indraj Singh, who described girls’ education as a special responsibility and a key pillar of social progress. He said the school would serve not only as an educational institution but also as a platform for opportunity, empowerment and aspirations for young girls in the region.
According to the minister, the revival of the school will provide a safe and conducive learning environment, reducing the need for students to travel outside the area for quality education. He emphasized that equal educational opportunities for girls are essential for building a progressive and empowered society.
Calling the project a reflection of the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, Singh said continuous efforts are being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to strengthen education and safety for girls.
Expressing confidence in the institution’s future, the minister said the school would emerge as a centre of educational excellence and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the region’s daughters.
“When daughters are educated, they progress; when daughters progress, Bawana progresses; when Bawana progresses, Delhi progresses; and when Delhi progresses, India moves forward on the path of becoming a developed nation,” Singh said.
