New Delhi: Calling on students to become entrepreneurs and problem-solvers, Delhi Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood urged young innovators to aspire to be “job creators, not job seekers” while addressing the South District Innovation Council (DIC) Competition at CM Shri School, Nanakpura.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Sood said that early entrepreneurship, continuous innovation and self-reliance are the cornerstones of a stronger and more resilient India. He encouraged students to adopt a growth mindset, embrace failures as learning opportunities, and develop practical solutions that address real-life societal challenges.

Reaffirming the Delhi Government’s commitment to fostering innovation from the school level, the minister said an ecosystem is being created where students are encouraged to think creatively, take calculated risks and build entrepreneurial skills from an early age.

During his interaction with participating teams, Sood applauded several student-developed prototypes, including a Smart Segregation Dustbin that automatically separates waste for improved recycling, an Elderly Care Medicine Alarm designed to help senior citizens take medicines on time, and a Street Safety Drone System developed by students of GBSSS Deoli to monitor vulnerable and poorly lit neighbourhoods.

The event also witnessed strong industry participation. Entrepreneur Meetu Puri announced an on-the-spot investment of ₹50,000 for the student-developed “Eco Blez Tech” skincare app, created by students of Government Co-ed Senior Secondary School No. 1, Ambedkar Nagar, after being impressed by its commercial potential.

Addressing the gathering, Ravi Sinha, Director of MSME, assured students of institutional support and guidance to help transform innovative school projects into successful business ventures. Sapna Yadav, Chairperson of NEEEV, highlighted how the initiative complements the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by nurturing critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities among students.

Organised by the District Innovation Council, the competition featured top student teams from Zone 23 and Zone 24, shortlisted through the Startup Stormers Zonal Competitions. Projects were assessed on originality, social impact, business viability, teamwork and presentation.

The event concluded with a strong message that Delhi’s education ecosystem is increasingly focused on transforming classrooms into innovation hubs, empowering students to emerge as confident entrepreneurs and future-ready leaders capable of driving India’s growth.
