Peshawar: Three Hindu minor girls allegedly abducted in separate incidents in Pakistan’s Sindh province have been recovered, amid allegations that they were forcibly converted to Islam and married.
One of the girls, a 15-year-old from Mirpurkhas, was reunited with her family after nearly six months, while two minor sisters from Tando Allahyar were recovered by police.
According to Faqir Shiv Kachhi, president of Pakistan Darawar Ittehad, a local NGO working on issues affecting Pakistan’s Hindu community, the 15-year-old girl was rescued on Sunday with the assistance of the relevant authorities and subsequently reunited with her family.
“She is now safe and is with her family,” Kachhi said.
The girl was allegedly abducted from an area near Mirpurkhas and taken to a location near Badin. Despite being a minor, she was allegedly subjected to forced religious conversion and marriage.
In a separate case, two minor Hindu sisters from Tando Allahyar district were allegedly abducted on 29 August and forcibly converted to Islam before being married.
Police later traced the sisters. However, a sessions court reportedly sent them to a shelter home despite their appeal to return to their family.
Meanwhile, another Hindu girl from Tando Allahyar has reportedly been missing since 9 September, with her whereabouts still unknown.
