New Delhi: Pakistan’s efforts to present its perspective on the region’s security situation at the United Nations have prompted calls for Afghanistan to be given an equal opportunity to put forward its own position in international diplomatic forums.
According to the press note, the Pakistani delegation is seeking to promote what is described as a “one-sided narrative” concerning regional security developments and allegations of aggression involving Afghan territory. The note argues that Pakistan’s presentation represents the perspective of only one party to the issue and, therefore, does not provide a complete account of the situation.
The press note stresses the importance of ensuring that both sides are heard in international forums, particularly when allegations involving cross-border security and territorial issues are being discussed.
It calls upon the United Nations to provide a similar platform and opportunity to the Afghan government’s delegation so that Afghanistan can directly and officially present its perspective to the international community.
The appeal centres on the principle of allowing the concerned parties to place their respective positions before diplomatic institutions. According to the note, hearing Afghanistan’s narrative alongside Pakistan’s presentation would enable international forums to consider the issue from both perspectives rather than relying on the account of a single party.
The press note further emphasises that Afghanistan’s government delegation should be able to communicate its position directly through established UN and diplomatic channels.
The call comes against the backdrop of continuing concerns over regional security and allegations involving Afghan territory. The note maintains that a balanced diplomatic process requires that Afghanistan’s perspective receive an opportunity to be heard alongside Pakistan’s claims.
It therefore urges the United Nations to facilitate an opportunity for the Afghan delegation to present its official position, allowing the international community to hear the competing narratives directly from the respective governments.
