
Palghar: In a significant push towards women-led economic development, an orientation meeting on social protection and livelihood opportunities was organised in Arnala village near Mumbai by the Maharashtra District Fisheries and Farming Cooperative Society Limited (MDFFCL).
The programme, attended by around 60 women entrepreneurs at the Panchayat Bhavan, focused on enhancing livelihood opportunities and strengthening entrepreneurial capacities in the coastal community.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Sumit Singh, Cooperative Entrepreneurship Expert and Founder of Ubantu Foundation, lauded the efforts of the cooperative in building the capacities of women members and preparing a roadmap for future growth. He highlighted various Central and State government initiatives in fisheries, dairy, MSME and rural development sectors, and encouraged women to explore ventures such as bioenzyme production, candle-making and cow dung-based products.
Earlier, MDFFCL Chairperson Raju Tandel welcomed the guests and outlined the socio-economic activities being undertaken by women entrepreneurs in the village. He also shared plans to launch new projects in fish processing and eco-tourism through the cooperative platform.
Special Guest Prashant Mavani, Enterprise Development Expert, introduced modern food processing and preservation techniques aimed at improving the shelf life of fish products and creating opportunities in catering and ready-to-eat food enterprises.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Kiran, who expressed gratitude to the guests and participants for their active involvement in the initiative.
