New Delhi: Avinash Kamble, President of the United Buddhist Federation India and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee on Unity & Solidarity of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB), Thailand, joined the birthday celebration of Shri Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The event brought together religious leaders, social activists and public representatives to honour Minister Athawale’s continued work in the areas of social justice, equality and the upliftment of marginalised communities.
Addressing the gathering, Kamble underlined the importance of collaboration between government institutions and Buddhist organisations to promote peace, social harmony and inclusive development in India and beyond. He noted that the core values of Buddhism—compassion, non-discrimination and dignity for all—are closely aligned with the mission of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Kamble also appreciated Minister Athawale’s long-standing commitment to the rights and welfare of socially and economically weaker sections, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other disadvantaged groups. He said such leadership is essential for building a more just and humane society.
The presence of a senior representative of the World Fellowship of Buddhists at the ceremony highlighted the growing international engagement of Indian Buddhist leaders. The occasion further strengthened ties between Buddhist institutions and the Government of India, reflecting a shared vision for social reform, interfaith understanding and national integration.
The event concluded with messages of goodwill, prayers for peace and a renewed commitment to cooperation for social justice and empowerment at national and international levels.
