Pankaj Nath, Assam , September 14: Players representing the Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra put up an impressive performance at the National Taekwondo Championship organised under the aegis of Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, winning 13 medals, including four gold, five silver and four bronze.
The championship was held from September 9 to 13 at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Kalyanganj, Khandwa.
According to Mukuteswar Goswami, Prachar Sanyojak of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, the gold medal winners were Nang Jenpin Dulakakharia and Rohi Chhetri of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Sapekhati; Ranita Kakoti of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Bahpati Azad; and Diku Hazarika of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Amolapatty. The silver medals were won by Ananta Phukan of Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Kakopathar; Ankit Lohar of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Makum; Gargi Barua of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Dhakuakhana; Phukan Hirak Jyoti Chiring of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Singhdwar; and Mayuri Gohain of Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Kakopathar . The bronze medal winners included Aastha Bora and Akanksha Priya Dutta of Lakshmibai Shishu Vidya Niketan, Dimow; Hirumoni Konwar of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Singhdwar; and Rishikesh Barua of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Sonari.
The Purvottar Kshetra contingent was accompanied by manager Bhargav Jyoti Gogoi, supervisors Himadri Chetia Phukan and Priya Rani Dhar, coaches Biraj Barua and Rimpi Barua, and sports coordinators Mukul Dahotia, Fanidhar Gogoi and Parameswar Gogoi. Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra organising secretary Dr Pawan Tiwari congratulated the medal winners, coaches, sports coordinators, principals and teachers of the participating institutions for their achievement.
He described the performance as a matter of pride for the Purvottar Kshetra and wished the players continued success in their sporting careers.
