Rekha Gupta lauds frontline workers; Kapil Mishra announces annual celebration to recognise their contribution
New Delhi: Delhi Tourism organised a special Navratri Dandiya Night at Chhatrasal Stadium to honour Anganwadi and ASHA workers, giving them an opportunity to celebrate the festival with their families. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra attended the event, which featured traditional Dandiya, Garba, music and cultural performances.
A large number of Anganwadi and ASHA workers participated in the celebration with their families, creating a festive atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and joy.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised Anganwadi workers for their contribution to child nutrition, health and education, describing their role as fundamental to building a healthy society.
“Our Anganwadi sisters do not merely perform a service; they lay the foundation for the bright future of our children,” Gupta said, highlighting their efforts in reaching families across neighbourhoods and settlements.
She described the celebration at Chhatrasal Stadium as an expression of gratitude and respect for the workers, reaffirming the Delhi Government’s commitment to their dignity, welfare and empowerment.
Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra said the initiative was undertaken to recognise the dedication of Anganwadi and ASHA workers, who work tirelessly for the welfare of children, mothers and families in need.

Linking the event to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Seva Hi Sankalp’ (Service as a Commitment), Mishra said the Chief Minister had envisioned a celebration where these frontline workers could enjoy festivals with their families while receiving recognition for their service.
He said the initiative was a distinctive effort in Delhi and possibly across the country, aimed at bringing these workers together for a special Navratri celebration.
“It is heartening to see Anganwadi and ASHA workers arriving here with their entire families,” Mishra said, emphasising the importance of acknowledging their contribution to society and giving them opportunities to share moments of happiness with their loved ones.
Annual event announced
Mishra announced that a special event of this kind would be organised every year to honour Anganwadi and ASHA workers, making the celebration an annual recognition of their contribution.
According to the Delhi Tourism initiative, the programme seeks to promote Navratri’s cultural traditions while recognising the commitment of women working at the grassroots level in community welfare.
The event combined cultural festivities with an effort to acknowledge the role of Anganwadi and ASHA workers in supporting children, mothers and families across Delhi.
