On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam massacre, the United States and the European Union delivered a blunt message: the world stands firmly with India against terrorism, and those enabling such violence will not escape global scrutiny. The attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, remains a grim reminder of cross-border terror networks that continue to threaten regional stability.

International Desk: Marking the anniversary on Tuesday, Washington and the European Union renewed their unequivocal backing for India, as anger continues to mount over the role of Pakistan-based terror infrastructure. The Pahalgam attack, which saw 26 people brutally killed, triggered widespread outrage and intensified calls for accountability.

The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, paid tribute to the victims, asserting that America stands shoulder to shoulder with India and will continue to support decisive action against terrorism. He described the killings as barbaric and extended condolences to grieving families.

The attack itself was particularly chilling—terrorists singled out tourists, reportedly verifying identities before executing them in cold blood. The brutality shocked the international community and reinforced long-standing concerns over terror groups operating from across the border.

Reiterating its stance, the European Union and its member states condemned terrorism in the strongest possible terms, backing India’s right to defend itself and calling for sustained global pressure against terror safe havens.

In the aftermath, India launched Operation Sindoor, striking terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The Indian Army’s targeted operations dismantled key launchpads, sending a clear signal that provocations would be met with force. The strikes led to a sharp escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, before a ceasefire was reached on 10 May 2025.

One year on, the message from global powers is unmistakable: the world is watching, and patience with states linked to terror networks is wearing thin. For India, international support has only strengthened its resolve to confront and dismantle terrorism at its roots.
