PoJK Violence: A disturbing video circulating widely on social media has once again drawn attention to the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In the footage, a visibly distressed woman makes an emotional appeal to India, alleging that Pakistani security forces are carrying out a violent crackdown on civilians, including women and children.
The woman claims that innocent people are being targeted during ongoing security operations. “Pakistani forces are killing our people and our children. The land of PoJK has turned red with blood. India, please help us,” she says in the viral video.
While the video has sparked outrage online, neither the woman’s identity nor her allegations have been independently verified.
Protests Intensify in Mirpur and Rawalakot
Reports indicate that unrest has escalated in the Mirpur and Rawalakot regions of PoJK, with protesters clashing with Pakistani security forces amid growing public anger.
According to multiple reports, a convoy of around 40 to 50 motorcycles was travelling towards Rawalakot as part of a larger protest march destined for Muzaffarabad. Some reports further allege that Pakistani security personnel opened fire in Mirpur’s main market area, leaving several people injured. These claims, however, remain independently unverified.
Serious Allegations Over Treatment of Victims
Protesters have accused Pakistani authorities of preventing families from accessing the bodies of those allegedly killed, claiming the deceased are being kept at Mirpur District Hospital.
There are also allegations that many injured protesters have been denied adequate medical treatment, forcing them to seek care at makeshift medical facilities. Reports from Rawalakot suggest heavy security deployment as tensions continue to rise, although these accounts have not been independently confirmed.
Roadblocks and March Towards Muzaffarabad
Local reports claim that thousands of protesters continue to march towards Muzaffarabad despite alleged attempts by Pakistani security forces to halt them. Protesters say roads have been blocked with barricades, sandbag fortifications and other obstacles to prevent demonstrations from spreading.
The scale of the protests, casualty figures and the allegations against Pakistani security forces remain unverified by independent sources.
International Attention on PoJK
The viral video has intensified scrutiny of the situation in PoJK, with social media users highlighting allegations of human rights abuses and excessive use of force by Pakistani authorities. However, no independent organisation has yet verified the video’s authenticity or confirmed the woman’s identity and claims.
As conflicting reports continue to emerge, developments in PoJK remain under close observation by regional and international observers.
