New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Sunday led party leaders and youth workers in paying tribute to the soldiers martyred in the Kargil War by observing a two-minute silence after listening to the 136th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at the Delhi BJP headquarters.

Addressing the media, Malhotra said the Prime Minister’s address on Kargil Vijay Diwas honoured the courage and sacrifice of India’s armed forces while reinforcing the vision of a self-reliant and developed India. He said the programme highlighted India’s growing defence capabilities, citing the successful trials of INS Mahendragiri, the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket, and the Kusha missile as milestones in the country’s scientific and strategic progress.

Malhotra said the Prime Minister also urged citizens to conserve water through the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, revive water bodies, and promote rainwater harvesting. He noted that the Prime Minister applauded the achievements of P.V. Sindhu, the Indian women’s cricket team, and Indian students who excelled in international Olympiads, describing them as sources of national pride.

He added that the address showcased the successful launch of Vikram-1, recognised the contributions of local artisans and women’s self-help groups, and promoted initiatives such as ‘Waste to Wealth’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ to encourage innovation and self-reliance.

According to Malhotra, the monthly radio programme continues to inspire citizens towards patriotism, environmental conservation, scientific thinking and nation-building through public participation.

The programme at the Delhi BJP office was attended by BJP National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Odisha MP Balabhadra Majhi, Yuva Morcha President Rajat Chaudhary, Office Secretary Kailash Jain, Amit Gupta, and hundreds of party workers. Similar listening sessions were organised across Delhi by senior BJP leaders and MPs.

State Convenor of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme Rajan Tiwari said nearly 6,450 listening programmes were organised across the national capital, reflecting widespread public participation in the Prime Minister’s monthly outreach initiative.
