New Delhi: The National Democratic Teachers Front (NDTF) celebrated Bhartiya Nav Varsh Pratipada 2083 with enthusiasm and cultural fervour at the auditorium of Ramjas College, University of Delhi, on Thursday.
The event saw participation from hundreds of Delhi University teachers, academicians and students, who exchanged greetings to mark the beginning of the new year in the Vikram Samvat calendar.
Addressing the gathering, NDTF president Prof A K Bhagi called for unity among teachers and stressed the need to work collectively towards improving education standards and service conditions. He also flagged upcoming challenges, including the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission for Central government employees and the Pay Review Committee of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The keynote speaker, Shri Ravi Kumar, member of the Akhil Bhartiya Sampark Toli, RSS, spoke on the theme “Vishva mein Bharat aur Hindutva ka Badhata Prabhav.” He highlighted India’s growing global influence and emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s cultural values and civilisational ethos.
The programme was presided over by Shri Gunwant Kothari, National Convenor of the Hindu Spiritual and Service Foundation and a member of the All India Executive of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In his address, he spoke about India’s cultural resurgence and its expanding role on the global stage.
Delhi University Executive Council court member Advocate Monika Arora underlined the cultural and civilisational significance of Indian festivals, referring to the concept of Srishti Nirman by Brahma in the context of Nav Varsh Pratipada.
NDTF General Secretary V S Negi extended greetings to the university fraternity and said the occasion symbolises renewal and continuity, adding that India’s civilisational influence is increasingly being recognised worldwide.
The celebration also included special arrangements for vrat food for participants. Organisers said the event reflected a shared commitment to cultural awareness and national values while marking the auspicious beginning of Vikram Samvat 2083.
