New Delhi (Chandan Singh | Page 3 News): The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WeShakti Trust to expand the cooperative network and empower women artisans across Rajasthan. The MoU, aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Prosperity through Cooperatives’ vision, aims to enhance skills, provide continuous support, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities through cooperative models.
The agreement was formalized by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive of NCUI, and Ms. Pragya Yadav, Founder of WeShakti Trust, in the presence of NCUI and WeShakti Trust officials. The collaboration will focus on providing structured training programs, skill development, and vocational opportunities for women, self-help groups, and artisans in Rajasthan and other states.
Dr. Mahajan emphasized NCUI’s commitment to cross-sector collaboration and highlighted partnerships with global and national organizations like GIZ India, HCL Foundation, and Art of Living to strengthen grassroots institutions. Ms. Yadav shared the achievements of WeShakti Trust, particularly its efforts in empowering women in Alwar and nearby districts through skill development and exhibitions. The Trust’s initiatives, in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission, have brought visibility to women’s products and livelihood activities.
WeShakti Trust works towards creating an inclusive society by empowering women, educating children, and engaging youth through skill-building, mobile learning, and sports-based interventions. The partnership will also focus on digital literacy, social protection awareness, and cooperative strengthening, promoting sustainable livelihoods and fostering informed participation for long-term socio-economic empowerment.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing women-led growth and contributing to India’s national development goals through the cooperative movement.
