New Delhi: Professor K.P. Singh of the University of Delhi has been conferred the prestigious Innovative Educator Award–2026 by the Social Development Federation (SDF), Uttar Pradesh, in recognition of his contributions to higher education, institutional development, academic leadership and nation-building.
The award was presented to Prof. Singh during the valedictory ceremony of the International Conference on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education in India: Opportunities, Challenges, and Sustainable Development” at Government Degree College, Kursanda, Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.
Prof. Singh, an academician, teacher-activist, researcher, planner, institution-builder and academic administrator, has been particularly recognised for his initiatives in developing academic infrastructure and facilities at the Department of Library and Information Science, Gandhi Bhawan and PG Men’s Hostel, University of Delhi, with the support of colleagues, students and alumni.
Representatives of the Social Development Federation highlighted his role as an academic leader handling multiple institutional responsibilities. Prof. Singh has served in various capacities, including Director, Gandhi Bhawan; Provost, PG Men’s Hostel; Chairman, Managing Committee, North-Eastern Students’ House for Women, University of Delhi; Professor and Head, Department of Library and Information Science; Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam, University of Delhi; and President, Delhi Library Association.
According to SDF representatives, his multifaceted leadership reflects a sustained commitment to academic excellence, institutional transformation, student welfare, professional development and social responsibility.
The latest honour adds to a series of national and international recognitions received by Prof. Singh for his contributions to Library and Information Science education and research, higher education, institutional and library development, professional leadership and society.
Prior to receiving the Innovative Educator Award–2026, Prof. Singh had received more than 20 national and international awards and distinctions, including the World Library Leader Award (2024), France; SPL Best Teacher Award (2018); SLA Best Teacher Award (2019); CGLA Academic Excellence Award (2019); SAIARD Asian Academic Leadership Award (2020); Anecdote Indian Librarian Pride Award (2022); Vishwa Bageshwari Samman (2023); The Saint of Education (2024); International Mata Savitribai Phule Award (2025); and UU Library Leadership and Innovation Award (2025).
