New Delhi: Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday congratulated Taranjit Singh Sandhu after he took oath as the new Lieutenant Governor of the national capital, expressing confidence that his diplomatic experience would benefit the city’s governance and development.

In a statement issued by the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Gupta said Sandhu’s “vast diplomatic experience and unwavering commitment to public service” would contribute significantly to the administration of Delhi.
Sandhu, a former Indian Foreign Service officer who previously served as India’s Ambassador to the United States, took oath at a ceremony held at Lok Niwas in New Delhi.
Extending his best wishes, Gupta said he hoped the new Lieutenant Governor would have a “distinguished and fruitful tenure dedicated to serving the people of the city.”
The Speaker added that Sandhu’s experience in international diplomacy and public service would help strengthen governance and support the continued development of the national capital.
The oath-taking ceremony at Lok Niwas was attended by officials and dignitaries, marking the beginning of Sandhu’s tenure as the constitutional head of Delhi.
