Khiala Kalan: The spirit of Baisakhi came alive at The Royal Global School, Khiala Kalan, as students and staff celebrated the festival with immense enthusiasm and vibrant energy. The campus turned into a lively cultural hub, with students dressed in colourful Punjabi traditional attire, adding charm and authenticity to the occasion.
The celebration featured a series of captivating cultural performances, including energetic bhangra and graceful gidha dances, which drew loud applause from the audience. The event beautifully showcased Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and left everyone spellbound.
Addressing the gathering, School Director Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur Sohal extended warm Baisakhi greetings and highlighted the festival’s deep cultural and agricultural roots. She explained that Baisakhi marks the harvest season, a time when farmers celebrate the fruits of their hard work. She also spoke about its religious importance, recalling how the tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, founded the Khalsa Panth in 1699. She encouraged students to remain connected to their traditions and values.
School Principal Dr. Aashish Kumar Sharma also shared insights into the significance of the festival, noting that Baisakhi is celebrated not only for its historical relevance but also to mark the ripening of the wheat crop.
The programme, organised by the students, was seamlessly conducted by Class IX students Jashanpreet Kaur and Sehajpreet Kaur, who impressed the audience with their confident stage presence. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Santosh Rani, bringing the joyous celebration to a memorable close.
