New Delhi: The Delhi BJP on Tuesday strongly rebutted allegations made by AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj regarding an alleged medical scam, asserting that the BJP-led Delhi government itself detected the attempted irregularity at an early stage and prevented any financial loss to the exchequer.

Delhi BJP Media Head and Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor accused Bharadwaj of “spreading lies and misinformation” and said the former Delhi minister had attempted to mislead the public through a social media post alleging a fresh medical scam.

Kapoor said he had immediately rejected the allegations on the social media platform X and challenged Bharadwaj to a public debate, while also reminding him of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports relating to alleged irregularities during the previous AAP government. According to the BJP spokesperson, Bharadwaj did not accept the debate challenge and instead made “evasive and irrelevant” arguments.

The BJP maintained that the alleged medical scam was uncovered by the current Delhi government itself before any financial damage could occur. Kapoor said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, upon receiving information about an alleged attempt involving a government medical supplier and certain officials, promptly ordered an internal inquiry.

He further stated that after relevant files were reportedly found missing, the Chief Minister directed that all digital records be preserved and a complaint be lodged with the Anti-Corruption Branch. The subsequent investigation, he said, resulted in the arrest of several individuals, including government officials.

Reiterating the BJP’s stand, Kapoor said Delhi residents were unable to understand why Bharadwaj continued to spread “falsehoods and misinformation” despite the government’s swift action. He added that the AAP leader should focus on public service instead of, as he alleged, pursuing “the politics of lies and misinformation.”
