Bangkok: The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Thailand chapter released a Hindu Panchang calendar during its annual Pratipada celebrations, coinciding with the organisation’s centenary year. The initiative aims to promote Sanatan traditions and cultural awareness among the Indian diaspora in Thailand.
The calendar features illustrations of Charodham, considered foundational pillars of Sanatan Dharma, along with depictions of Lord Shri Ram Dham and Ujjain Dham. It also incorporates the traditional Sanatan Panchang, an ancient Hindu almanac.
The Hindu New Year calendar is structured around five key components—date, day, constellation, yoga, and karana—reflecting the traditional system of timekeeping. The Panchang continues to hold cultural significance, serving not only as a method of calculating time but also as a guide connecting daily life with faith, discipline, and religious observances.
The release ceremony was held in a grand setting in the presence of Swami Vigyanananda, head of the World Department of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, along with Dr. Chaitanya Prakash Yogi from the Indian Embassy, Honorary Sanghchalak Naveen Sharma, and other prominent members of the community.
According to organisers, this marks the first such initiative by the Sangh in Thailand. The calendar is intended to reach every household in Bangkok, with volunteers and various social, religious, and cultural organisations collaborating for its widespread distribution.
Jimmy Mishra, Publicity Chief of the Sangh, said the effort seeks to ensure that present and future generations remain connected to Sanatan traditions, festivals, and cultural practices aligned with the traditional Hindu calendar.
