New Delhi: Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Wednesday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj for opposing a liquor booking app, claiming that the app had been introduced by the AAP government when Bhardwaj was the minister concerned.
In a press statement, Kapoor said Bhardwaj appeared to have overlooked the app’s origins before criticising it. He claimed that the AAP government introduced the app on December 13, 2024, and that it was implemented on January 2, 2025, under the government led by Atishi Marlena.
Kapoor further alleged that Bhardwaj was the minister responsible for the relevant portfolio at the time.
“We have neither ever publicised nor promoted this liquor booking app,” the BJP spokesperson said.
Suggesting that Bhardwaj acknowledge his role in the app’s introduction, Kapoor said he could write to the present government recommending its closure.
Kapoor also alleged that, if any purchases had been made through the app, they might have been by AAP leaders who were aware of its existence. He did not provide evidence in the press note to substantiate that allegation.
The remarks came amid a political exchange over the liquor booking app, with the BJP spokesperson questioning the AAP leadership’s criticism of a platform he claimed had been introduced during its tenure in power.
