New Delhi, September 23: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Delhi BJP office-bearers on Wednesday participated in a cleanliness drive and tree plantation programme at a Public Works Department (PWD) park on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg in New Delhi.
The cleanliness drive was conducted under the leadership of BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh, with Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, senior national office-bearers, state office-bearers and party employees taking part in the programme.
During the drive, the participating leaders and workers jointly removed around five tempo-loads of accumulated garbage and debris from the area surrounding the large PWD park. Vehicles brought by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) workers were used to clear the waste.
Speaking to the media, Harsh Malhotra said the park, being located beneath a flyover, is relatively secluded, particularly from its rear side, which has resulted in people dumping garbage and construction debris in the area.
Following the cleanliness drive, the participating leaders and workers planted saplings in the park as part of the tree plantation programme.
Malhotra said BJP workers, MPs, MLAs and councillors would undertake cleanliness drives across Delhi from September 25 to October 2, 2026. He said special attention would be given to parks, places of worship and hospital premises during the campaign.
The programme brought together senior BJP functionaries from both the national and Delhi units. BJP Sah-Sangathan Mahamantri Shiv Prakash, National Organiser V. Satish, National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi, National Co-Treasurer Rajesh Mangal, National Secretaries Jaiprakash and Sandeep Pathak, National Office Secretary Mahendra Pandey, and National Sahayog Cell Convenor Naveen Sinha, among others, participated in the cleanliness and plantation activities.
A large number of Delhi BJP state office-bearers also joined the programme and performed shramdaan. Those participating included Yogita Singh, Mohan Lal Gihara, Rajesh Bhatia, Satish Garg, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Sunil Yadav, Vijay Solanki, Vinod Bacheti, Richa Pandey, Kaushal Mishra, Vikram Bidhuri, Sarika Jain, Manoj Kumar, Sardar Gurmeet Sura, Abhishek Tandon, Rohit Chahal, Praveena Sharma, Kailash Jain, Lajpat Rai, Rajat Chaudhary, Rohit Upadhyay, Shubhendu Shekhar Awasthi, Puneet Agrawal and Amit Gupta.
Former Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and MCD DEMS Committee Chairman Sandeep Kapoor, along with Delhi BJP state office employees, also participated in the cleanliness drive.
The programme combined waste removal with tree plantation, with party leaders and workers taking part in both activities at the PWD park. The Delhi BJP is scheduled to extend the cleanliness campaign to different parts of the national capital between September 25 and October 2, with parks, religious places and hospitals identified for special focus.
