New Delhi: Delhi’s cooperative sector is set to play a key role in building a “Viksit Delhi” (Developed Delhi), with new initiatives focusing on transparency, financial inclusion, and self-reliance, announced Minister for Cooperation Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the “Humanity First” ambulance service by Jamia Cooperative Bank at Zakir Bagh, New Friends Colony, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening cooperative banks and allied institutions. The service aims to provide critical patient transport to hospitals and assist families in performing dignified last rites.
Shri Indraj emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, the cooperative movement has reached new heights through the resolve of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). He noted that leading Indian cooperatives such as Amul and IFFCO have achieved top global rankings, reflecting the strength of India’s cooperative model.
The event was part of Delhi’s observance of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025. The minister further stated that comprehensive reforms are underway to make Delhi’s cooperative institutions models of transparency and efficiency, contributing to both a Developed India and a Developed Delhi.
Lauding Jamia Cooperative Bank for its commitment to community welfare, Shri Indraj congratulated the bank’s chairman, Mr. M.Q.H. Beg, who reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to empowering economically weaker sections and supporting social welfare initiatives.
The newly launched “Humanity First” ambulance service will be operated by the Jamia National Foundation.
