New Delhi: The Republic of Balochistan has appealed to the international community to recognise its independence, while rejecting Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address at the United Nations General Assembly as detached from the realities on the ground.
In a statement dated September 26, the Republic of Balochistan alleged that Pakistan’s military-controlled government was seeking to use international forums to advance its narrative and urged the global community to reassess its engagement with Islamabad.
The statement claimed that Pakistan’s alleged terrorism has affected not only neighbouring countries but also nations that have provided military and civilian assistance to it. It criticised the United Nations and the international community for continuing to provide Pakistan a platform at global forums.
The Republic of Balochistan further described Pakistan as an economically bankrupt state and alleged that it remains a centre of terrorism and extremism. It called on the international community to end its support for Pakistan and recognise what it described as an independent, prosperous and peace-oriented Balochistan.
The statement concluded with an appeal to the international community to “wake up” and support recognition of Balochistan’s independence.
The Republic of Balochistan issued the statement on September 26, 2026.
