New Delhi: Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Monday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership of politicising the death of Anil, a sanitation worker employed by a private company, and alleged that AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar had used the tragedy for political purposes.
Kapoor said it was “extremely unfortunate” that the AAP leadership had attempted to link a murder allegedly arising from personal reasons with the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation.
According to the Delhi BJP spokesperson, the private company had offered appropriate compensation to Anil’s family on the first day. He alleged, however, that Kumar pressured the family for two days and prevented the post-mortem from being conducted.
Kapoor further alleged that statements made by the AAP MLA created tension in the area and led the police to take him for questioning.
Following the questioning, Kapoor accused AAP leaders of repeating what he described as the party’s “drama” after the arrest of MLA Amanatullah Khan in September 2024. He said Delhi Police released Kumar after a few hours, but AAP leaders continued protesting as though the MLA had gone missing.
Kapoor said Kumar should apologise to the people of Delhi as well as Anil’s family for allegedly keeping the deceased’s body on the road for two days and using the tragedy for political purposes.
