
Pankaj Nath, Assam: Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Vidya Bharati Vidyalaya, Shillong, celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of distinguished guests, teachers, and students.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the School, Dr. Samrat Paul; Secretary, Anil Roka; Vidya Bharati Meghalaya State Coordinator, Pranjit Pujari; Meghalaya Sports and Publicity Coordinator, Bibek Tiwari; Principal, Barsha Agrawal; along with teachers and students. Yoga Instructor Kushal Gurung conducted various yoga sessions and demonstrated different asanas, highlighting the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. Students and teachers actively participated in the yoga practice with great enthusiasm. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Samrat Paul congratulated all students who participated in the sports and cultural activities.
He emphasized that while winning is important, participation is even more valuable as it helps develop self-confidence, discipline, creativity, and the ability to face challenges. He encouraged students to continue moving forward with dedication, hard work, and perseverance. School Secretary Mr. Anil Roka extended his greetings on the occasion of International Yoga Day and appreciated the successful organization of both the yoga program and the annual sports competition. He stated that along with academics, sports and co-curricular activities play a vital role in the holistic development of students. He also appreciated the efforts of the teachers and encouraged students to maintain discipline, focus on their studies, and actively participate in sports and other activities. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vivek Tiwari shared an inspiring story to motivate the students.
He emphasized that one should not dwell on what has been left behind but should always focus on moving forward. He stated that there will always be people who try to pull others back, but success comes to those who remain determined and continue progressing toward their goals with a positive mindset. Following the Yoga Day celebration, the school organized the Annual Sports Prize Distribution Ceremony. Students also presented colorful cultural performances that added vibrancy to the event. The Green House emerged as the overall champion by winning the highest number of gold medals and proudly claimed the Champion Trophy. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Monika Ghosh, who expressed gratitude to the guests, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
