New Delhi: Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has accused Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj of spinning a “new story every day” over bicycles being distributed by the Delhi Government, alleging that his criticism reflects political frustration over the BJP government’s welfare initiatives.
Kapoor said Bharadwaj had “now become a better storyteller than a politician”, claiming that he was frustrated by welfare schemes being introduced for women and schoolgirls.
According to Kapoor, Bharadwaj has recently been raising allegations about the quality and condition of the bicycles. He claimed that two days ago, while offering cake to schoolgirls, Bharadwaj allegedly prompted them to say that the bicycles were of poor quality. On September 4, Kapoor alleged, Bharadwaj stood at a chowmein stall and got a student to claim that her bicycle had broken down.
Kapoor, however, claimed the allegation was contradicted by another student standing nearby, who said she had not yet received a bicycle.
The Delhi BJP spokesperson said only a symbolic distribution of bicycles had taken place so far and that the full-scale distribution would begin shortly.
“It would have been better if Saurabh Bharadwaj had waited for the bicycle distribution to be completed,” Kapoor said, questioning how a student could claim that a bicycle had broken down within two weeks when the distribution itself was yet to be completed on a large scale.
