
Pankaj Nath, Assam: On the occasion of the twelfth International Day of Yoga, a district level program was organized in the open auditorium of Police Cantonment in Nagaon city in collaboration with Nagaon District Administration and National Ayush Mission on Sunday. Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Science and Technology etc., Assam, who was the chief guest, said, “Yoga practice establishes a meaningful connection between mind and nature, soul and divine.
Therefore, yoga should be included in the lifestyle. The Minister also said that it is a matter of pride that this invaluable contribution of ancient Indian civilization has been recognized on the international stage due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called upon everyone to continue practicing Yoga. In his brief address, Rupak Sharma, MLA, Nagaon-Batdrawa Assembly Constituency, who was present as the Guest of Honour, said, “It is very pleasant that Yogasana programs are being organized in every district, sub-district, development block and gram panchayats of our state. Now the awareness and interest in Yoga among the public is clearly visible. District Development Commissioner Debajyoti Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner Kamaljit Sharma, Joint Director of Health Department Dr. Pancham Kumar Bora, District Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Sharma, Deputy Mayor Seemanta Bora, District Nodal Officer of AYUSH Dr. Reema Bhattacharya and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration was followed by a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at a function held in Kolkata at the central level. Thereafter, Yogasana was practiced under the guidance of National Yoga Referee Rupjyoti Baruah, in which more than three hundred people participated. Under the program, prizes were distributed by the Minister and MLA to the winners of the district level Yogasana competition held on June 16. Yoga players who won medals for Assam in the recent National Yoga Competition were also felicitated and felicitated. The district administration and the Ayush Mission had active participation in making the event a success, and the possibilities of announcing several initiatives to increase awareness about Yoga among the local community were also indicated.
