New Delhi: The Delhi government on Sunday organised a special “Shaurya Diwas” programme at Central Park in Connaught Place to mark the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.
The event witnessed participation from citizens, ex-servicemen, youth groups and representatives of several social organisations. Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra was also present at the programme, which resonated with patriotic fervour as slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” echoed across the venue.
Renowned singer Ashish Kulkarni performed patriotic songs during the event, creating an atmosphere of nationalism and remembrance.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described “Shaurya Diwas” as an occasion to salute the “indomitable courage, bravery and sacrifice” of the Armed Forces. Referring to Operation Sindoor, she said India had delivered a “befitting reply” to terrorism and its handlers, sending a strong message that there would be no compromise on the nation’s security, sovereignty and honour.

The Chief Minister termed the April 22 terror attack as “extremely painful”, stating that the brutality inflicted upon innocent civilians had shaken the nation and united the country in grief and anger. She said the suffering of the victims’ families strengthened the resolve of the nation, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, terrorists were given a strong response.
Calling Operation Sindoor a symbol of the emotions and honour of 1.4 billion Indians, she paid tribute to personnel from all three wings of the Armed Forces, saying soldiers continue to safeguard the country under the toughest conditions. She added that while India believes in peace, it also knows how to respond firmly to threats against the nation.
Kapil Mishra said the “DNA of bravery” continued to flow through India and asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Armed Forces were scripting a new chapter of glory. He said India does not provoke anyone, but any attempt to challenge the country would invite a strong response.

He added that the programme was dedicated to honouring the country’s soldiers through patriotic songs, poetry and public participation, while also reinforcing the collective resolve towards building a “Viksit Bharat”.
