New Delhi: Lata Gupta on Friday formally assumed charge as the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), along with five newly appointed members, marking the beginning of a new leadership team for the statutory body dedicated to women’s welfare and rights in the national capital.
Gupta, a former Municipal Corporation councillor, was nominated by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The newly inducted members—Shyam Bala, Malti Verma, Lata Sodhi, Sanrika Sharma Jha and Renu Bhalla—also took charge of their respective responsibilities at the Commission’s office.
After assuming office, Gupta thanked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for reposing confidence in her and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to protecting women’s rights across the city.
She said the Commission would work under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Vijaya Rahatkar to strengthen the safety, dignity and empowerment of women in Delhi through dedicated and effective action.
