New Delhi: The book “New Parliament – The Voice of Bharat” authored by Prof. K. P. Singh was formally released at Uttarakhand Sadan on Tuesday by the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.). The book documents the vision, symbolism and national sentiment surrounding the inauguration of India’s new Parliament building.

Prof. Singh is the Director of Gandhi Bhavan and a senior Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Delhi. Welcoming the Governor, he presented him with a bouquet, ceremonial shawl, a memento and a copy of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. In his address, Prof. Singh said the Governor’s guidance had been a constant source of inspiration for his work. He shared that the inauguration of the new Parliament stirred deep emotional and cultural pride, which motivated him to chronicle the moment through this book.

Representing Atal Prakashan, publisher Ms. Upasana Kabra said the 307-page book blends architectural vision with references to India’s ancient heritage and modern aspirations. She noted that the publication captures the emotional and intellectual atmosphere of the nation during the historic transition from the old Parliament to the new one.

Releasing the book, Governor Gurmit Singh described it as historic and unique in theme, structure and presentation. He said the book vividly narrates the journey of India’s Parliament, reflecting the nation’s evolving thinking, progress and renewed energy. Drawing a metaphor, the Governor remarked that “Au” in chemistry represents gold, and that the author, like gold and diamonds, is rare and precious.

The Governor said the new Parliament symbolises freedom from a colonial mindset and reflects the emotions of 1.4 billion Indians. “The newness of Parliament reflects the newness of the nation,” he said, calling it the voice of a rising India poised for global leadership. He added that India, as the mother of democracy, has integrated its civilisational legacy into the new Parliament, where constitutional values of sacrifice, harmony and balance are visibly embedded.

Highlighting the architectural features of the building, the Governor pointed to its record-time completion and the synthesis of Vedic influences, Mauryan symbols, Chola temple motifs, Indian murals, photographs and the Sengol. He said every element connects ancient India with modern India, making the Parliament not merely a structure but a reflection of the nation’s ethos.
