New Delhi (Chandan Singh | Page 3 News Worldwide): Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the opposition, alleging that parties which “ruined Delhi for 11 years” came to the Assembly “with their faces covered” and were now disrupting proceedings to avoid discussion on key issues.

Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Indraj said the opposition was wasting the time of the House and public money by repeatedly staging protests instead of participating in debates. He claimed that from the beginning, the government had sought serious and meaningful discussions, particularly on issues such as pollution and air quality.

The minister said Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta had even convened a special session to facilitate discussion, and the government had repeatedly urged the opposition to take part. “However, the opposition has continued to disrupt proceedings every day,” he said, adding that even during the Lieutenant Governor’s address, their conduct was “irresponsible”.

Indraj further claimed that the work done by the present government in 11 months outweighed that of the opposition’s 11 years, which, he said, was the reason for the latter’s discomfort. He added that the government was working with commitment to address problems such as garbage management, which it had “inherited” from the previous regime.

The Social Welfare Minister also condemned the language allegedly used by the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly against the Gurus, calling it “extremely shameful and condemnable”. He said such remarks against Gurus and families who sacrificed for the nation were deplorable, and demanded that AAP leaders apologise to the entire country.

Stating that the people of Delhi were watching the developments closely, Indraj said the Bharatiya Janata Party was fully prepared for discussions in the House and would continue to work in the interest of the city.
