Several nearby houses were also damaged in the blast. At least four police personnel were reported injured. Emergency response and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities continued to assess the situation.
Police said a suicide bomber aboard a car hit a police station in Domel tehsil of Bannu district, triggering a powerful explosion that was heard even from afar. The intensity of the blast and the reverberating explosion triggered panic among residents. Gunfire erupted immediately after the explosion, further heightening tension in the area.
Preliminary information suggests that the police station was the primary target, officials said.
According to police, rescue teams have recovered five bodies from the site, including three women and a child.
