New Delhi: Giving a fresh boost to infrastructure development in Bawana, Delhi Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Minister and local MLA Ravinder Indraj Singh on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a ₹18-crore project to construct streets and drains in Prakash Vihar, Shahbad Extension-II.
The project, to be executed by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department under the Chief Minister Development Fund (CMDF), is aimed at strengthening the area’s drainage network and improving civic amenities for residents.
Addressing a gathering of local residents and officials, Singh said the government was committed to transforming Bawana into a modern, well-equipped Assembly constituency. He noted that years of inadequate infrastructure development had left several civic challenges unresolved, but asserted that the present government was working at an accelerated pace to deliver long-term solutions.
“Development projects are being launched and inaugurated across the constituency, and no area will be left deprived of essential infrastructure,” he said, adding that the government was focused on ensuring better roads, drains, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, education, transportation and public safety across the region.
Highlighting the momentum of development works, the Minister pointed out that the foundation stone for drain reconstruction in Rohini Sector-22 was laid earlier this month, while several road and drain projects in Shahbad Dairy have already been inaugurated. More major projects are scheduled to begin in the coming months, he said.
Singh also showcased recent achievements in the education sector, including the reopening of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (Updesh Kaur) in Dariyapur Kalan after sustained efforts. The school is expected to benefit nearly 700–800 girl students by providing education from Nursery to Class XII.
The Minister further cited the inauguration of a safer power infrastructure project in Dariyapur Village and the foundation stone laying of a vocational training centre for visually impaired persons on the Narela-Bawana Road as key milestones in the constituency’s development journey.
Emphasising timely execution, Singh said strict instructions had been issued to all departments to ensure projects are completed within deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
Reaffirming his commitment to the holistic development of Bawana’s villages, the Minister said long-pending issues were being addressed in a phased manner under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Residents and community representatives present at the event welcomed the initiatives and expressed appreciation for the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and quality of life across the constituency.
