PATTAYA, Thailand — Three Indian tourists were rescued after allegedly being kidnapped, bound, beaten and held for ransom in a townhouse in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi Province, authorities said on Monday.
The victims were reportedly being held for a ransom of 4 million Indian rupees each . Investigators said the kidnappers allegedly sprayed paint on the tourists to create the appearance of bloodstains, apparently as part of an attempt to pressure their families into paying the demanded ransom.
The rescue operation took place at approximately 4:09 p.m. on July 27, 2026 , at a two-story townhouse inside a housing estate off Soi Phatthanakan in Nong Prue Subdistrict.
The raid was conducted jointly by Chonburi Immigration, Pattaya City Police and representatives of the Indian community. The operation was led by Pol. Col. Naphatsapong Khositsuriyamani, Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration, who was accompanied by Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Kawinwat Arayasuriwong and Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Kittiphat Hongchuwet.
Pattaya City Police investigators, led by Superintendent Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu and Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Arut Saphanon, also took part in the operation. Mr. Lakshman Singh, President of the Pattaya Indian Association, assisted authorities during the rescue.
The tourists were found inside the property and removed to safety. Their condition and the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction were not immediately disclosed.
Authorities are investigating the suspected kidnapping, the ransom demand and the possible involvement of a wider criminal network. Initial reports indicate that members of the alleged gang may include both Pakistani and Indian nationals. Police are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the suspects believed to be connected to the incident.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the rescued tourists or confirmed whether any ransom money was paid. Further details are expected as investigators question the victims and gather evidence from the townhouse.
The case highlights ongoing cooperation between Thai law-enforcement agencies, immigration officials, Indian diplomatic representatives and local community leaders in protecting foreign visitors in Pattaya.
