MOHALI: Residents of Sector 21 and adjoining areas have raised serious concerns over garbage dumps at entry points, damaged roads, ongoing road works and persistent traffic-related inconvenience, prompting questions over which civic authority is responsible for the situation.

Residents said they approached elected Councillor Rakesh Yadav and submitted a representation, but were reportedly informed that the affected roads did not fall under his jurisdiction. They were also asked to provide a jurisdiction map to establish which agency is responsible for the roads.

The response has left residents seeking clarity on whether the responsibility lies with GMADA, MCG or another department.

Residents have also appealed to their MLA Rao Narbir Singh to intervene and coordinate with the concerned departments to resolve the issues.

The problems, residents said, are particularly affecting school-going children and senior citizens. They claimed that traffic congestion and road-related difficulties have made daily travel increasingly challenging, with commuters sometimes taking nearly an hour simply to exit the area.

Residents are now demanding that responsibility be clearly fixed instead of being passed between departments. Their immediate demands include removal of garbage, repair of damaged roads and a clear, time-bound action plan from the authorities concerned.

With elected representatives in place, residents say they now want accountability and visible action on the ground.
