
Pankaj Nath, Assam: Assam’s talented swimmer Rupam Gogoi brought laurels to the nation by winning the Gold Medal in the Platform Synchronised Diving event (Boys Group A & B, 14–18 years) on the opening day of the 12th Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships 2026, and being held in Bangkok, Thailand. Partnering with S/Cdt. Supradeep Saha, the Indian pair delivered an outstanding performance, securing the top position with 229.89 points, ahead of Vietnam and Uzbekistan. Mukuteswar Goswami, Publicity Secretary of the Assam Swimming Association, informed the press in Guwahati that the duo has been training under the guidance of Coach M. Kunjakishor of ASI Pune, whose dedicated coaching played a vital role in their success.
He said Rupam’s historic gold medal has brought immense pride to Assam and the nation. Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Bhaskar Ranjan Das, General Secretary of the Assam Swimming Association, congratulated Rupam Gogoi and Supradeep Saha on their remarkable performance. He wished both divers continued success and expressed confidence that they would continue to bring greater glory to Assam and India in future international competitions.
